10 Thai food phrases about life.

1) จับฉ่าย (Salad)

Used to describe someone that no matter how hard they try to do many things, they never seem to go right or well.

2) มะนาวไม่มีน้ำ (Lemon without juice)

This means someone who is very straight talking, sometimes seeming aggressive, who doesn’t seem to care how you feel.

3) ไม่เป็นสัปปะรด (It’s not a pineapple)

Something that isn’t good enough.

4) ง่ายเหมือนปลอกกล้วยเข้าปาก (Easy like peeling banana)

Something that very easy to do.

5) กว่าถั่วจะสุก งาก็ไหม้ (You wait until the peanut is cooked, the sesame seed will get burnt)

If you wait too long for one thing to happen , you may miss another important opportunity along the way.

6) ผักชีโรยหน้า (To put parsley as topping)

Trying to cover up something bad by making it look good on the surface.

7) ใกล้เกลือกินด่าง (Stay near the salt but pick permanganate)

Not realising the good thing you already have, and going off and picking something worse instead.

8) เกลียดตัวกินไข่เกลียดปลาไหลกินน้ำแกง (Hate the chicken but eat an egg, hate the Eel but eat (Eel) soup)

When a person does not like a particular thing, but oddly likes something that is related to that thing.

9) กินข้าวร้อน นอนตื่นสาย (Eat hot rice and wake up late)

This is someone who lives a life full of blessings, and has no worries in the world.

10) เกลือเป็นหนอน (Salt become worm)

This is used to describe when a family, friend or group member betrays the trust of one or more members of that family, friend or group.
